Children who age out of foster care represent
Children in foster care are three to six times more likely than children not in care to suffer from emotional, behavioral and
developmental problems. Many of these children are victims of a repeated series of foster care experiences.
Serial Foster Children often lack the transformational experiences and child development opportunities a stable environment can provide. Without a consistent support mechanism and positive life-changing experiences, these children are continually at risk. Research suggests that young adults in foster care face enormous challenges in building successful lives without the extended support most families provide.
